Raw Food Recipes – Quick and Easy

Foods retain their vitamins and minerals in their raw form. It makes sense to offer several meals each week based on raw food recipes. One tip is to always choose the freshest raw foods. For some individuals, there’s a pleasantry shopping daily at the local produce market for each day’s raw food recipe. There are several raw food recipes that take little preparation time. They are tasty and make colorful presentations.

A great way to start the day is with a raw food breakfast.

Homemade Granola Cereal Recipe

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups old fashioned oats

1/4 cup buckwheat groats

1/2 cup sun dried raisins

1/2 cup chopped almonds

1/4 to 1/2 cup clover honey

Sliced raw fruit like bananas or strawberries for topping

Milk (optional)

Directions:

Blend oats, buckwheat and honey until the mixture holds together. Add almonds. Top with sliced raw fruit.

Colorful and Tasty Buffet Lunch Recipe

Ingredients:

1 small head of radicchio

6 julienne carrot and celery sticks

1 cucumber and 1 zucchini sliced paper thin

6 small broccoli florets

6 radish flowers

3 to 4 mushrooms sliced thinly

6 Romaine lettuce leaves

Raw Food Dressing Ingredients:

Juice of one lemon and one orange

3 to 4 finely chopped fresh basil leaves

1/2 cup Virgin olive oil

1/2 teaspoon finely diced lemon rind

Directions:

Choose a colorful round platter. Place Romaine lettuce leaves on the platter, beginning from the center of the plate, extending outward. Place radicchio leaves atop Romaine lettuce. In the center, create a “pinwheel” with cucumber and zucchini slices. Top with sliced mushrooms. Dot the radicchio leaves with broccoli florets and radish flowers. Place the carrot and celery stalks intermittently between the broccoli florets and radish flowers. Place the dressing in a separate cruet.

Raw Food Dinner ala Carte

There are many raw foods that make wonderful dinner recipes. Don’t forget that certain types of fish and shellfish can be served “raw” and beef tartare has been a Parisian haute cuisine delicacy for generations. A dinner menu can start with cold soup like a creamy leek or gazpacho, made entirely from raw vegetables. Start the dinner menu with a lovely raw baby spinach and mushroom salad served with a fresh strawberry vinaigrette dressing. Offer tuna tartare or oysters on the half shell. For the kids, create broiled fresh fruit kebobs for dessert.

There are a few disadvantages of a raw food diet. Raw foods do not have preservatives and don’t keep as long as processed foods.
